Dining Pool Table Product Spotlight

Dining pool tables are increasingly popular - they fit into smaller spaces and complement modern interiors, making them furniture pieces beyond just being game tables. So, having more design options is always great, right?

Well, yes and no!

While more options mean flexibility of choice, even amongst staff we have (wildly) different picks - our own subjective aesthetic tastes makes it hard to agree on what looks best!

Thankfully, our latest batch of slate bed dining billiard tables designs that we can all agree on. In this product spotlight, we introduce the Lakewood, the Acacia and the Kingston pool dining tables, and discuss the similarities and differences in aspects of finish, construction, and play.

1) Acacia Dining Pool Table: Beauty in Nature

Construction

Unlike the Lakewood and the Kingston, the Diner II (Acacia) Dining Pool Table adopts standard legs at the corners where it looks like a standard dining table. Anyone who desires a modest design will love how the pool function is 'disguised' and easily blends in with the interior space.

Beyond its inconspicuous design, where the Acacia really stands out is its finish. The natural solid wood offers a finely textured grain pattern, with complementing shades of medium-brown finish adding definition and depth to an otherwise fuss-free design. With textured black stone diamonds that offer an excellent accent and contrast, the result is a simple table with a touch of class.

The Acacia also passes the feel test. Polished to a luxuriously smooth texture, it's no surprise that our customers often lay their hands on the table surface and share how it feels cool to the touch.

Form meets Function

While aesthetics are important, it's never a case of form over function. A pool table is only as good as its strong fundamentals such as its material and construction.

Like the Lakewood and Kingston, the Acacia is a solid wood table that's as strong as it is beautiful. Known for its robust qualities, the one-piece Acacia frame and incredibly sturdy legs, means you can rely on it to support the weight of the slate and table tops (and dishes) that you place on it. Durable, it also possesses a structural integrity that withstands years of rigorous play without warping or weakening.

With its natural finish and straightforward construction, the Diner II (Acacia) is all about solidity and sophistication.

2) Lakewood Dining Pool Table: All About the Details

Expert Craftsmanship

Made of Aspen and topped with a whiskey finish, the Lakewood Dining  Pool Table complements dark wood interiors.

Despite its distinctive reddish-brown frame, the unique diamonds lined up on the rails are a delightful touch. While the diamond system typically helps with gameplay, who knew that they could embellish a pool table?

While the Acacia and Kingston feature diamonds with a textured black stone finish that contrast with its smooth surface, the Lakewood's mother-of-pearl inlays are what sets it apart. Each inlay is unique, being composed of whimsical, Kaleidoscopic colours and possessing a snowflake-like quality.

In keeping with the great attention to detail, the legs of the Lakewood are also slanted, with the diagonal lines that juxtapose edginess with warmth. The legs that start from the table’s interior and extend outward add a touch of class, but are also practical in offering greater legroom.

With a thick, high-quality slated playing area that offers a perfectly flat surface, the result is smooth and consistent ball roll. Paired with highly sensitive rubber cushion, this table offer excellent roll and rebound that's equivalent to that of tournament tables.

All in all, the Lakewood is all about the subtle details that will delight those with a keen eye for intricacy, whether it's about form, fun or function.

3) Kingston Dining Pool Table: Legs to Die For

Legs

If the leg placement of the Lakewood and Diner II (Acacia) are a nod to the familiar, then the Kingston Dining Pool Table is an ode to innovation. Taking cue from an increasingly popular leg pattern in modern furniture, the Kingston sports a unique, criss-crossed pattern that resembles a King's crown (which also explains its name).

Even as a normal dining table, the avant-garde leg design already poses a design conundrum. How this pool table merges intricate style and stability was initially baffling to us - simply put, how does a narrow set of seeming disparate legs magically hold up a 350+ kg slated, solid wood body?

Thankfully, we had the chance to dissect the parts to find out how secure it is! Basically, each steel leg support has precisely cut joints that allowed them to be fastened together by heavy duty bolts. With this, the design smartly shifts the weight lower towards the middle where the joints converge instead of higher up the table for greater stability.

Besides the intricate design being able to hold up structurally, it also doesn't compromise on play aspects. We found that the levelling was as easy as other pool tables with standard leg designs. And when it comes to ball roll - the litmus test of stability - ball movement is consistent on the well-supported slate surface.

Despite its complex radial leg pattern, the legs offers ample legspace that combines practicality with presentation, allowing for comfortable seating for 6 - 8 pax.

Seamlessly Fit Table Tops

Like the Lakewood and Kingston, the Kingston features heavy-duty table tops in four sections. Besides a matching finish for a consistent look, each piece fits precisely with the others via metal dowel joints, the result being a seamless, uniform looking surface.

As each top is constructed with a base that rests on the play surface table instead of its entire weight supporting on the rails, it avoids the risk of warping. The edges are also highlight detailed, with subtle raised edge to hang above the drop pocket holders.

Each section is lightweight enough for one adult to carry, adding to the convenience of converting between a dining table and pool table within seconds.

If you're looking for an innovative centerpiece that's a sure conversation starter over a game of pool, the Kingston would be an excellent choice.

Summary

Marked by quality slate surface, highly durable solid wood frames, and matching table tops, each of our latest dining billiard tables are a combination of excellent play and practical qualities.

But that's where the similarities lie. Each table is unique in its own right - whether it is the radial legs of the Kingston, the Acacia's beautiful colour and textured grain pattern, or the Lakewood's diamond inlays and classy legs, there are enough features in each that everyone can find some delight in.

But don't take our word for it - nothing beats actually trying out the tables for yourself. All three tables are available for viewing in our showroom, so be sure to book an appointment with us to experience them, or check out our wider collection of convertible Dining Pool Table models as well to suit your play- and-dine needs!
